Imoke Donates 23-Months Salary To Church

Starting from this month till May 29, 2015,
the salary of Cross River State Governor,
Senator Liyel Imoke, will be paid into the
bank account of Grace Consulate Ministries,
Calabar to enable youths in the church
realise their potentials.
The governor made this known when he
launched the album of the church entitled:
“Earth Shakers and Frank Edward, “na’ar
Youth Swagger”.

Speaking at the occasion, Imoke said the
beauty of what the church was doing was
beyond the normal Sunday worship, as it
impacts on youth development.
The governor explained that the donation
was out of his commitment and passion for
youth development, a desire that made him
to float the Bridge Leadership Foundation,
a project dedicated to helping youths
develop their talents as future leaders.

He said today’s youths were faced with
global challenges and it was important that
they have access to information which
creates an opportunity to do more than the
adults, expressing that money generated
from the launch should be used in
purchasing equipment and building a
studio to enable youths realise their
potentials.

Imoke, who commended Pastor Lawrence
Okpata, the brain behind the launch for
doing well, said “What he and his wife are
doing is affecting the society because they
know Nigerians will depend on new
generation of leaders as leaders do not just
happen.”
He advised the youths to get educated first
because one cannot be successful today
without education, noting that Okpata has
succeeded because he was trained as a
lawyer, which contributed to the success of
the church.

The governor promised to advertise the
Youth Swagger Programme, which focuses
on the youth and the leadership quality
which they posses .

According to him, the programme would
create impact on youth in future and
advised them to be committed to whatever
they were doing to achieve their goals
“The kids need support because it is this
generation that will produce the next
leadership. The album will edify and give us
peace, appreciate the words of God and will
glorify the name of the almighty God,” he
said.

Speaking also, wife of the governor, Mrs.
Obioma Liyel-Imoke, described the launch
as a great event because it was aimed at is
catching them young, hence the first thing a
parent should do is to teach a child how to
sing.

Earlier, Okpata had said he thought about
“Youth Swagger” eight months ago and that
the potentials in the youth have begun to
come out.
