Enugu Police smashes university certificate forgery syndicate

A syndicate that specializes in forging
tertiary school certificates has been nabbed
by the operatives of the Enugu State Police
intelligence Bureau.

DailyPost gathered that the police acted
based on the intelligence it gathered from
some members of the public regarding the
suspects and their dirty deals.

The syndicate, according to our source,
issues to their victims certificate of various
universities, polytechnics as well as
secondary schools at the cost of 60,000
naira.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the
State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, who
confirmed the arrest said the suspects,
identified as Ikechukwu Olisa, Nwankwo
Anthony and Osinachi Udoka were arrested
at the Trans Ekulu axis of the state.

According to the PPRO, they were arrested
while handing over a Higher National
Diploma Certificate,H.N.D, with the
inscription of Institute of Management and
Technology (IMT) Enugu, to one of the
victims.
He disclosed that items recovered
from the suspects include, stamps
with an inscription of Mechanical
Engineering Department of IMT and that of
a secondary school, six copies of
certificates with the inscription of IMT, four
identity cards, 45 files suspected to be
owned by their victims and substance
suspected to be hard drugs.

The state PPRO said ” full scale
investigations have commenced as suspects
are now helping the police in their
investigations.

“The state commissioner of police,
Abubakar Adamu Mohammed has
applauded the effort of his operatives just
as he appealed to members of the public
for partnership by a way of timely and
useful information about crimes and
criminality in their domain”, he added.
