Sham bride arrested trying to marry her fourth Nigerian husband

One of UK's most prolific sham brides, Raquel
Neto Furtado De Andrade, 22, has been arrested
and sentenced to two years in prison after trying
to marry her fourth husband...a Nigerian.

According to the UK Daily Mail, Raquel, who had
already married three Nigerians to help give them
the right to stay in the UK was caught just
minutes before she could marry her fourth
husband.

Suspicious staff at the registry noticed she'd been
there previously to wed other men and used the
same wedding dress at each ceremony. And after
she was arrested, records showed she hadn't
even bothered to formally divorce previous
husbands before marrying a new one...for money.

The fourth groom, a 32-year-old Nigerian
(pictured above), was arrested with her and has
been deported. UK Immigration is now looking for
her three other husbands so they can be
deported too.

As for Rachel, she is now behind bars serving a
two-year sentence and will be deported to her
native Portugal on her release from prison.

US freezes $458m Abacha loot, declares it largest forfeiture ever

The U.S. Department of Justice has frozen more
than $458 million in corruption proceeds hidden in
bank accounts around the world by former Military
dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha and his conspirators.

The complaint alleges that Abacha, his son
Mohammed, their associate Abubakar Atiku
Bagudu and others embezzled, misappropriated
and extorted billions from the government of
Nigeria and others.

The corrupt proceeds were then laundered through
the purchase of bonds backed by the United States
using U.S. financial institutions.
A civil forfeiture complaint unsealed yesterday in
the United States District Court in the District of
Columbia seeks recovery of more than $550
million in connection with “the largest kleptocracy
forfeiture action brought in the department’s
history.”

The restraint of funds announced yesterday
includes approximately $313 million in two bank
accounts in the Bailiwick of Jersey, $145 million in
two bank accounts in France, four investment
portfolios and three bank accounts in the United
Kingdom with an expected value of at least, $100
million.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Mythili Raman of
the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and
Assistant Director in Charge Valerie Parlave of the
FBI’s Washington Field Office made the
announcement.

“Gen. Abacha was one of the most notorious
kleptocrats in memory, who embezzled billions
from the people of Nigeria while millions lived in
poverty,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General
Raman.

“This is the largest civil forfeiture action to recover
the proceeds of foreign official corruption ever
brought by the department. Through our
Kleptocracy Initiative, we are seizing the assets of
foreign leaders who steal funds that properly
belong to the citizens they serve.

Today’s
(yesterday’s) action sends a clear message: we
are determined and equipped to confiscate the ill-
gotten riches of corrupt leaders who drain the
resources of their countries.
“We will not let the U.S. banking system be a tool
for dictators to hide their criminal proceeds,” said
Assistant Director in Charge Parlave.
“This action demonstrates the FBI’s ability to
combat international corruption and money
laundering by seizing the assets of those involved.
I want to thank the special agents, financial
analysts and prosecutors whose hard work over
the years resulted in today’s announcement.”

Gen. Abacha, who assumed office through a
military coup on November 17, 1993, died in office
on June 8, 1998.

Rivers state releases N1bn health intervention fund

The Rivers State Ministry of Health has confirmed
the release of funds for the continuous running of
the free health care programme of the state
government.

The State Commissioner for Health, Sampson
Parker made this known to newsmen in Port
Harcourt.
Parker said the state government released the sum
of one billion naira as an intervention fund to meet
the agitation of the health workers that went on
strike at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist
Hospital, BMSH.

He said “It is true we went through some real
turbulent periods with our doctors going on strike
and downing tools. The reason was simple,
‘money don finish’. As human beings, we do go
through wavy periods but we come out of it
stronger.

Contempt of Court - Ex-APGA Bosses, Umeh, Shinkafi May Be Jailed

Former chairman of the All Progressive Grand
Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, and his former
national secretary, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, may be
jailed for contempt of court as the national
chairman of the party, Chief Maxi Okwu, had this
week served the duo with Form 48.
Addressing newsmen, yesterday, in his Nkpokolo
town, Achi, in Oji Local Government Area, Enugu
State, Okwu said Form 49 would be served on
them next week should they continue to parade
themselves as national leaders against the
January 15, 2014 judgement of the Federal High
court, Abuja, that enthroned his executive as the
authentic national leadership.
Besides, Okwu hinted that Chief Willie Obiano, who
was declared as governor- elect by the
Independent National Electoral Commission in the
last governorship election in Anambra State might
not be sworn-in on March 17 following a court
order that would this week be served on the state
chief judge till the determination of a substantive
suit on "who is the real governorship candidate"
still pending in court, was dispensed with.
"We are in a law-abiding society, we are not in a
jungle. Before the tenure interpretation of
Governor Peter Obi people assumed that it would
go the other way, so let us see what happens and
I will not prejudge it.
"The matter is squarely and squarely before the
court and the court will determine it based on its
merit. If there is a court order obtained by
Obidigbo which the Chief Judge of Anambra State
is a party in the suit along with Obiano himself,
myself and the APGA, the Chief Judge and all the
parties in the suit will obey.

Actor Chidi Mokeme talks about why he and his wife live apart

In an interview with Yes! magazine this week, actor Chidi Mokeme explained why his wife, Jean Chinwe Olumba, who he married in 2012, lives in the US while he lives in Nigeria....

Well, when I met my wife, this was our default setting. Let me put it like that. Our default setting was that I live in Nigeria and my wife lives in America and then we started a relationship and decided to take the relationship further and decided we were going to be man and wife. So, having taken that decision and having crossed that level, the next thing is to find a way to ease into a location. Everybody knows that you don’t just pack your bag and move in one day. There are things that need to be sorted, relocation needs to be sorted. So, we are taking our time with it. But then again, by virtue of my job, I have a pretty much very flexible timing. I own my time, I decide when to work, when not to work. So, really, I can be with my wife anytime, every time I so desire and it makes it easy. If I work 9-5, then we will always have to wait for when someone was on leave the whole year round, if I want, just to be with my wife.

N1.3billion fraud: Fred Ajudua sent to Kirikiri Prison

Fred Ajudua has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison
for allegedly defrauding former Chief of Army
Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd.), of about
$8.395m (about N1.3 billion).

Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye ordered on Wednesday
that he should be remanded in prisons custody
following a fresh 13-count charge of fraud
brought against him by EFCC.

The EFCC in the fresh charges dated 14 October,
2013, alleged that Ajudua, along with others still
at large, defrauded Gen. Bamaiyi of $8.387m
between November 2004 and June 2005 while in
prison.

Ajudua is the only defendant in the fresh charges
as others who allegedly committed the offences
along with him are said to be at large. Continue...

Other suspects said to be on the run, are Alumile
Adedeji (a.k.a Ade Bendel), Mr. Kenneth and
Princess Hamabon William.
Ajudua, along with other suspects, were said to
have defrauded Bamaiyi at the Kirikiri Maximum
Prisons, where he and the other fraud suspects
were on remand for various crimes.

EFCC claimed that the suspects had fraudulently
collected the money from Bamaiyi instalmentally,
falsely claiming that the payments represented
the professional fees charged by Chief Afe
Babalola (SAN) to handle Bamaiyi’s case in court
and to facilitate his release from prison.

The anti-graft agency also alleged that Ajudua
and others fraudulently claimed that $1m out of
the total money collected from Bamaiyi was for
financial assistance for the treatment of Justice
Olubunmi Oyewole’s father. Justice Oyewole was
then presiding over Bamaiyi’s case in court.

The suspects were said to have told Bamaiyi that
Oyewole’s father was admitted at Saint Nicholas
Hospital in Lagos and the $1m was meant to
assist the judge in treating his father.

When the charges were read to him today, he
pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
His bail application was however not heard as the
presiding judge adjourned the matter till 20
February, 2014.

Ajudua is also standing trial in another court for
allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen,
Remy Cina and Pierre Vijgen, of $1.69m (about
N270m). The matter has been on since 2003.

"Not having sex for 2 years feels good" -Dencia says in new interview

The singer and businesswoman tells Encomium magazine

"Sex is overrated and sex is for lovers who are trying to make babies. I am not trying to do so, it is not in my agenda. Not having sex for two years feels good. I am saving energy and mileage. I have better things to waste energy on. I want to wait till after marriage because I am not in a rush. Marriage is a commitment. I just don't see myself falling inlove, having sex and being both heart broken. I have never been heartbroken. I can't take a heartbreak..and men these days expect anything from them. To avoid heartbreak, if I meet any serious man we will meet the families, no sex for over six months, so in the process they might find out they don't like me so I can quit easily."

Pastor Drowns To Death Trying To Walk On Water

A pastor in Gabon who tried to imitate Jesus Christ drowned to his death after he tried to walk on water in front of his congregation. Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation that he was capable of reenacting the very miracles of Jesus Christ. He decided to make it clear through way of demonstration on Gabon’s beach in the capital city of Libreville. Referencing Matthew 14:22-33, Kabele said that he received a revelation which told him that with enough faith he could achieve what Jesus was able to. According to an eyewitness, Kabele took his congregation out to the beach. He told them that he would cross the Kombo estuary by foot, which is normally a 20 minute boat ride. Sadly by the second step into the water Kabele found himself completely submerged. He never returned.
